      • 2024 Application: Opened Nov 12 – closed Dec 20, 2024

      • Used for: Fire and emergency response equipment, training, and community resilience enhancements

    • Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG)

      • 2025 Application: Open July 28, 2025 – deadline August 11, 2025

      • Used for: Supporting state, local, tribal, and territorial agencies in all-hazards preparedness, readiness, and resilience

    Description: Preparedness grants support readiness and response capabilities across emergency management agencies — including training, planning, equipment, and operational support.

  • FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance (HMA)

    Programs:

    • Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)

      • Used for: Rebuilding post-disaster to reduce future risk (e.g., safer infrastructure)

    • Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grants

      • Used for: Buying flood-prone property, retrofitting buildings, building shelters, small flood-control projects

    • Flood Mitigation Assistance (FMA)

      • Used for: Addressing future flood risks in local communities, tribes, and territories

    • Safeguarding Tomorrow Revolving Loan Fund

      • Used for: Low-interest loans supporting local mitigation projects aimed at climate and disaster resilience

    Description: HMA programs fund projects that reduce disaster risk — both after events and proactively — including infrastructure strengthening, community planning, and climate adaptation.

  • FEMA Public Assistance Program

    Public Assistance (PA)

    • Used for: Debris removal, emergency protective measures, and restoration of public infrastructure after a presidentially declared disaster

    Description: PA supports communities in disaster recovery, helping restore essential services and public infrastructure after emergencies.

    Programs:

    • State Homeland Security Program (SHSP)
